How it works

How to make a PayPal QR code

  1. 1

    Find your PayPal.Me username

Check you have a PayPal.Me link set up in your PayPal account. Your username is the part after paypal.me/.

  2. 2

    Add an amount and currency

Enter an amount and pick USD, EUR, GBP, AUD or CAD for a fixed price. Leave the amount empty to let people choose.

  3. 3

    Style and test

Add your colours and a "Scan me" frame, then scan the preview and check it opens your PayPal page with the right name and amount. You don't need to complete a payment to test it.

  4. 4

    Download

Save as PDF or SVG for signs, or PNG for invoices and emails.

Where it helps

Use cases.

  • Market stalls and craft fairs

Take payments from people who don't carry cash, with a code on the table.

  • Tips and donations

Leave the amount blank on a tip jar, busking sign or charity poster.

  • Invoices

Add a code with the exact amount to a printed invoice so clients can pay without typing details.

  • Shared costs

Collect money for a group gift, club fees or a shared dinner with one code.

Before you print

Tips that save a reprint.

  • Use one code per price. A set amount suits a fixed price, and for anything that varies, leave the amount out.
  • Print your PayPal name and the amount in text next to the code, so payers can confirm they're paying the right person.
  • On public displays, check regularly that nobody has stuck a different code over yours.
  • Laminate signs for outdoor stalls and print at least 3 cm (1.2 in) wide so people can scan from across the table.
  • Keep your PayPal.Me username stable. If you change it, codes with the old name stop reaching you.
